Few years ago we were driving around the city and we saw pink 1960 Chevrolet Bel Air. I promised to paint that car to my friend... Now I finally made it, but because I like 1959 more I painted it... and didn`t paint the correct color either :D

Marilyn Monroe potrait painting.

Woke up this morning at 7am and no school... pretty unusual for me. Wanted to make an portrait painting to practise hair. I was looking for sometime pretty girls but then I decicated to make the portrait about Marilyn Monroe because it would fit this blog also... Im actually pretty satisfied about few things. This is the first time in my portraits the hair does look like an hair (atleast littlebit). It still doesn`t look too much Marilyn but atleast I had fun painting it :)

My first real pinup painting try!

I have been made lots of sketches about characters but I never really tryed to make "real" pinup painting. This image started also as sketch but I wanted to make it little more finished than just a sketch. 1,5hour spend on it... Still more practise needed but I am actually happy for few things. The face the most.. I allways have had problems with making anykind of face that even reminds human face, espicially womens. I made this face totally from imagination so I have improved little bit. Still long way to Vargas or other famous Pinup artists quality :P

1960 Pontiac Catalina Station Wagon with Supercharger

I wanted to paint Pontiac 1960 model. I didnt saw so many photos from Station Wagon, so I assumed its has to be pretty rare. Also I wanted to add supercharger into this Pontiac. Its allways crazy to have Supercharged Station wagon. Doesnt make so much sense, thats why its so cool!

Finland is number two in Rockabilly!!

littlebit offtopic, but I was just messing around with google`s Adword tools and I found out. That Finland is number two in whole planet in searching Rockabilly! Thats pretty cool if we consider that Finland doesn`t have so many people (only 5 - 6 millions).

But ofcourse sweden took again the longer straw on this...! They are number one. Maybe because they have over 9 million people living there. Actually 5% of them are Finns; who are probably just searching rockabilly in Sweden (just kiddin`).

But hey, overall it means that Nordic countries can really ROCK!

1964 Plymouth Valiant V-100

Here is painting I made like 1 month ago or something. 1964 Plymouth Valiant.. I was looking prices of them from internet and I got really motivated to paint one. My first american car ever was -65 Valiant, so I had to paint its older sister :)

225 Slantsix !! really famous engine for its durability. You just cant brake em. I think they are pretty economy too. Allmost fits to my student budget.

1959 Buick Electra Convertible

More cool convertibles from GM. 1959 Buick! Really awsome car with "aerodynamic" delta fin!! This Fin era only lasted few years (maybe because it was really hard to park with fins blocking your view) but these fin cars (especially from General Motors) are my favorites. Maybe thats why I mostly paint em :)

I really wanted to try make some story on background. I was too lazy (not skilful enought) to paint people there also.
Maybe next time something different. Maybe time to try some fifties pinup paintings.

1959 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz

Today I painted this one of the most legendary car ever made! (Atleast for me).
Only 1 320 of them made which makes it really wanted car for collectors. What Im been looking at ebay prices of these beauties are 80 000$ and more! Even really junky project 1959 Biarritz convertible are priced over 10 000 - 15 000$ or even more.

Im actually glad I prefer the De Ville (6300 series) model more. I think Biarritz has too much chrome stuff for my taste. I also prefer 1960 year model to be the most beatiful Cadillac ever made. Which is even better, because everybody seems to be wanting the legendary fifty nine Cadillac!

I made this with freeware software called OpenCanvas 1.1
Doesnt really have useful layers in this software (it has layers, but I have no idea how it works and I think no one else does either!). I really love this software how the brush is working. I have tryed to emulate this really basic round brush to Photoshop but I never got the same soft feeling into it. Also this OpenCanvas 1.1 is just lightwave to use. Also you can review your painting process with OpenCanvas which is really nice feature. You can learn from other people paintings by getting their project files. Painting took about 1h 30mins.

1961 Chevrolet Impala bubbletop

I think this bubbletop design lasted only one year, 1961. One of the coolest coupe designs on these classics. But I still prefer the flat tops! (1959 - 1960 only). Im not sure, what I heard there might be also buick with this kind of bubble top roof. Somebody correct me if im wrong!

Time consumed about 1h. It has biscaynes chromes but Impalas backlights. I forgot to paint the crome lists :P

My 1960 Cadillac Sedan Deville Flattop Patina Project

Here it is! I had to paint my own car, which I bought this last summer (2010) really cheap. Im going to keep the patina on it.. Maybe its on highway again someyear!

I was listening Johnny Cash on youtube and in one of those videos was really nice photo of hem. So I tryed to make fast sketch of it. Not so much look alike but was nice and fast to paint!

1960 Cadillac Deville

Ok one more time this 1960 Cadillac! Its my biggest dream ever! I made new blog for getting my dream come true and I had to paint logo(header) for it.

Its right now 2:30 AM and im still painting. I just love summer and free time. I just wish someday, hopefully next summer I could have my own 1960 Cadillac. Convertible would be the coolest but they might too expensive for me. Coupe and flattop are also so amazing.

It would be so nice to drive to dance pavillion with this kind of Cadillac and listening fifties doowop rock `n roll music on the trip there. :)

I have problem with car tires.. they allways looks awful in my paintings. So today just little practise to even little better tires. Well, atleast little improvement maybe.

Back in business

I just came back from my "holiday" trip from Poland and starting sketching again. Something new maybe tomorrow. I was thinking to start practising paint/sketch whitewall tires becouse they are really hard for me right now. So starting with basic forms or something.
