1957 Chevrolet Bel Air

I think this is my best car painting so far.. Maybe I am bit by bit getting better (with this pace its going to take for ever) ;P

so here it is, green (I was trying custom turquoise but my colors turn always bit dirty)

And here is step by step the 1957 chevrolet paintings process....

This Bel Air painting I started just by line work. I wanted to make more perspective work because I dont have much practice on perspective... and its always nice to play with it.

This time I added shadows, or more darker lines to see the real shapes of the car.

Now basic colors.. "midtone" whole car and then start painting highlighs and shadows into it.

Final layer with most of work I suppose... after 1 - 2 hours from beginning this is result.. I think these 1957 Chevys are one of the most beatiful American classics.. and im not the only one who likes these. Looking on ebay these convertible prices are almost close to 100 000$... So I rather keep my rusty Cadillac going..

Hot Hods racing in desert

This is my 50th post!! Again doing so many other things than painting, so not so much paintings as I was hoping. Here is 1932 Ford Coupe 3w (three window) and 1951 Ford shoebox Custom racing somewhere... I wanted to make a painting with some story and with hot rods, not only one rod. I should paint more hot rods and customs to tune up my skills...

Photo this time. From last september. My Cadillac Sedan Deville flattop. Awsome body model, nice patine.. Most coolest Cadillac ever! (my personal opinion). Tried to make some film effect on it. Exposure was pretty awful, cheap camera and it was really early in the morning. Im not much a photographer.

More comic style practise drawing.. This time car. 1958 Chevy Bel Air with some photoshop comic style effects to make it more "cooler". Pretty satisfied to result. More I put time into painting / drawing -> better results. This was fast also.. 30mins about.

my "cartoon" style pinup practise sketch.

Here is the try out of today.. I still cant get rid of the painting style but atleast I tryed some lineart pinup... maybe I have to find some more sources and learning materials from the web. I think I am getting closer bit by bit. Atleast now, best thing would be paint and sketch everyday. No way other way to learn to paint pin ups and characters without doing it everyday.

Todays Pinup painting practise.

Characters are really hard to paint.. I have to try paint more pin ups and more people, more sketching etc. Today I just was randomly looking for reference for pinups and I found one pretty nice gesture for this pinup painting. I think this is best so far for my paintings. Still long way to go for perfection. I have to learn more maybe cartoonish style. Less painting maybe and more lineart... My goal is still to make cool pinup rockabilly fifties style paintings with some kind of story in the paintings :)

1958 Plymouth Fury

I was checking today what I haven`t painted yet. 1958 Plymouth Fury, like in the movie christine. Super cool fifties car. I also tried new open canvas 5, so maybe thats why my fury painting was bit failure. I have to get used to more this newest openCanvas. I think this 1958 Plymouth is the coolest mopar with wings. I definatly have to paint this car once more when I get some more practise. I seem to have problem with perspective and some other things too.. I should to more exercises. Maybe next time try to paint 1958 Plymouth convertible :)

Bettie Page Pin Up portrait...

More pin ups.. less cars. So I had to try to paint Bettie page. Doesnt resemble too much Bettie page but im still happy for the result. I should finish reading those Andrew Loomis books and practise more figure drawing to get better results in pin up drawings and painting!

I was looking for something to paint and never actually painted these roadster chevy corvettes :) 30mins and I feel I still suck :D

Few years ago we were driving around the city and we saw pink 1960 Chevrolet Bel Air. I promised to paint that car to my friend... Now I finally made it, but because I like 1959 more I painted it... and didn`t paint the correct color either :D

Marilyn Monroe potrait painting.

Woke up this morning at 7am and no school... pretty unusual for me. Wanted to make an portrait painting to practise hair. I was looking for sometime pretty girls but then I decicated to make the portrait about Marilyn Monroe because it would fit this blog also... Im actually pretty satisfied about few things. This is the first time in my portraits the hair does look like an hair (atleast littlebit). It still doesn`t look too much Marilyn but atleast I had fun painting it :)
